Becker's Healthcare recently donated $32,960 to Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago.
Becker's Healthcare plans to raise more than $50,000 total with the company donation and personal fundraising efforts as part of Chicago Dance Marathon 2016.
"This is the sixth year Becker's has been involved in the event, and we are so proud of our team rallying behind such a great cause," says Becker's Healthcare CEO Jessica Cole. "Each and every year, we have greater employee engagement and continue to scale up our fundraising goals and efforts."
Since its inception in 2010, CDM has raised more than $1.9 million for the patients and families of Lurie Children's. Hundreds of supporters attend the dance marathon each year for 8 hours of dancing, entertainment and inspiring storytelling from more than 20 patient families.
"This event is a highlight of the year for the patients, their families and all the dancers," says Laura Dyrda, editor in chief of Becker's ASC Review. "Children and families from around the Chicago area have access to top care at Lurie Children's, and it's an honor to support such an outstanding hospital. The children have overcome so much and we're inspired by their resilience."
The funds raised go toward various resources and services to make a child's hospitalization one bit easier for the patient and his or her family. For instance, a gift of $2,500 covers one month of transportation expenses for patient families in need of assistance to and from the hospital.
More than 173,000 children receive care at Lurie Children's each year.
"We are delighted to make this donation to a premier leader in our community," says Scott Becker, publisher of Becker's Healthcare. "Lurie Children's is a terrific organization. This donation is a complete tribute to our leadership team and all of our colleagues at Becker's Healthcare who drove this donation."
