Becker's Hospital Review is pleased to release the 2017 edition of 100 hospitals and health systems with great oncology programs. A version of this list has been published every year since 2012.

The hospitals and health systems selected for this list lead the way in oncology expertise, outcomes, research and treatment options. Hospitals were selected based on rankings, ratings, designations and outstanding achievement awards for the specialty from a range of firms and clinical bodies, including U.S. News & World Report, CareChex, BlueCross BlueShield Association, National Cancer Institute and American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer.

Advocate Christ Medical Center (Oak Lawn, Ill.). Advocate Christ Medical Center Cancer Institute sees nearly 2,000 newly diagnosed cancer patients annually. [CLICK HERE]

Advocate Lutheran General Hospital (Park Ridge, Ill.). In 2014, oncology specialists at the Cancer Care Center at Lutheran General Hospital earned an Innovator Award from the Association of Community Cancer Centers for the hospital's innovative approach to cancer care delivery. [CLICK HERE]

Aurora Health Care (Milwaukee). The Vince Lombardi Cancer Clinic at Aurora Health Care includes 11 sites across the health system. [CLICK HERE]

Banner Health (Phoenix). In 2011, Banner Health and the Austin-based University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center launched a collaborative center — the Banner MD Anderson Cancer Center — in Gilbert, Ariz. [CLICK HERE]

Barnes-Jewish Hospital/Washington University (St. Louis). Barnes-Jewish Hospital/Washington University is home to the Alvin J. Siteman Cancer Center, which is the only cancer center within 240 miles of St. Louis to hold designation from the National Cancer Institute as a comprehensive cancer center.[CLICK HERE]

Baylor Scott & White (Dallas). The Baylor Scott & White-affiliated Scott & White Cancer Institute developed patient-focused cancer programs staffed by integrated care teams. [CLICK HERE]

Beaumont Health (Royal Oak, Mich.). Beaumont Health has recorded data in a tumor registry since 1973 to analyze and follow up with patients who have malignant or reportable benign disease.. [CLICK HERE].

Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (Boston). Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center is a teaching hospital of Boston-based Harvard Medical School, which allows Beth Israel patients access to innovative cancer therapies. [CLICK HERE]

Cedars-Sinai Medical Center (Los Angeles). The Samuel Oschin Comprehensive Cancer Institute at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center houses more than 20 cancer centers, programs and specialized services. [CLICK HERE]

Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. More than 70 pediatric oncologists and surgical oncologists staff the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia cancer center. [CLICK HERE]

Children's National Health System (Washington, D.C.). Children's National Health System is one of 20 organizations participating in the Children's Oncology Group, granting the health system access to National Cancer Institute-supported pediatric cancer research. [CLICK HERE]

Children's Hospital Colorado (Aurora). Children's Hospital Colorado is a private, nonprofit pediatric healthcare network with neuro-oncology, bone marrow transplant and experimental therapeutics for cancer treatment. [CLICK HERE]

Christiana Care Health System (Wilmington, Del.). Christiana Care Health System's Helen F. Graham Cancer Center & Research Institute is one of 46 research centers funded by the National Cancer Institute to participate in the NCI Community Oncology Research Program. [CLICK HERE]

Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center. Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center's Cancer and Bone Diseases Institute offers patients advanced cancer therapies, a hereditary cancer program and a cancer survivorship center.[CLICK HERE]

City of Hope (Duarte, Calif.). City of Hope is a 215-bed comprehensive cancer center as designated by the National Cancer Institute. City of Hope was founded in 1913 as a tuberculosis hospital and has since turned its focus to cancer and diabetes care. [CLICK HERE]

Cleveland Clinic. The Cleveland Clinic Cancer Center features more than 450 physicians, researchers and providers who treat thousands of patients each year through 19 multidisciplinary cancer programs. [CLICK HERE]

Cone Health (Greensboro, N.C.). Cone Health Cancer Centers have five locations and 500 cancer specialists across Greensboro and the surrounding community. [CLICK HERE]

Dana-Farber/Boston Children's Cancer and Blood Disorders Center. Dana-Farber/Boston Children's Cancer and Blood Disorders Center has a five-year cancer survival rate of 87.5 percent for all cancer types, ahead of the national benchmark of 82.8 percent, according data from the National Cancer Institute. Dana-Farber/Brigham and Women's Cancer Center (Boston). With its 12 specialized treatment centers and four locations in Massachusetts, the Dana-Farber/Brigham and Women's Cancer Center is ranked No. 4 for adult cancer care by U.S. News & World Report for 2017-18. [CLICK HERE]

Duke University Hospital (Durham, N.C.). Duke University Hospital's Duke Cancer Institute was established in 1973 as one of the original National Cancer Institute-designated comprehensive cancer centers. [CLICK HERE]

Emory Winship Cancer Institute (Atlanta). An affiliate of Emory Healthcare, the Emory Winship Cancer Institute is Georgia's only National Cancer Institute-designated comprehensive cancer center. [CLICK HERE]

Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center (Knoxville, Tenn.). Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center, Knoxville-based Covenant Health's flagship hospital, provides cancer services through the Thompson Cancer Survival Center. [CLICK HERE]

Fox Chase Cancer Center (Philadelphia). Fox Chase Cancer Center has been part of Temple University Health System since 2012. [CLICK HERE]

Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin (Milwaukee). In 2016, CMS accepted the Cancer Center at Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin as an official participant of the Oncology Care Model, which promotes highly coordinated oncology care and episodic payments for chemotherapy administration. Georgetown Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center (Washington, D.C.). Established in 1970, the Georgetown Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center is part of Washington, D.C.-based Georgetown University Medical Center and MedStar Georgetown University Hospital. [CLICK HERE]

Hackensack (N.J.) University Medical Center. Hackensack University Medical Center, part of Hackensack Meridian Health, offers oncology care through the John Theurer Cancer Center. [CLICK HERE]

Houston Methodist. Patients have access to Houston Methodist Cancer Center at six locations throughout the system. [CLICK HERE]

Penn Medicine (Philadelphia). Penn Medicine Abramson Cancer Center comprises eight locations in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.[CLICK HERE]

Johns Hopkins Hospital (Baltimore). Established in 1973, the Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center at Johns Hopkins has multiple specialty departments. [CLICK HERE]

Johns Hopkins Children's Center (Baltimore). Johns Hopkins Children's Center is the 205-bed children's hospital of Johns Hopkins. [CLICK HERE]

Lafayette (La.) General Medical Center. The Cancer Center of Acadiana at Lafayette General Medical Center opened in July 2010 and received accreditation from the American College of Surgeon's Commission on Cancer in 2012. [CLICK HERE]

Lifespan (Providence, R.I.). Four Rhode Island-based hospitals and the East Greenwich, R.I.-based Lifespan Ambulatory Care Center contain branches of Lifespan Cancer Institute, which provides care to 4,000 newly diagnosed cancer patients annually. [CLICK HERE]

Loyola University Health System (Maywood, Ill.). Loyola University Health System has two locations dedicated to cancer care — Maywood-based Loyola University Medical Center's Cardinal Bernardin Cancer Center and Loyola Cancer Care and Research at the Marjorie G. Main Line Health (Radnor Township, Pa.). Main Line Health's cancer program is a National Cancer Institute Community Oncology Research Program, giving the health system advanced access to clinical trials for new cancer treatments..[CLICK HERE]

Massachusetts General Hospital (Boston). Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center offers patients more than 37 treatment programs within 29 multidisciplinary disease centers. [CLICK HERE]

Mayo Clinic (Rochester, Minn.). Mayo Clinic Cancer Center includes more than 350 scientists and physicians who work in tandem to treat all types of cancer. [CLICK HERE]

Mayo Clinic Hospital (Phoenix). Mayo Clinic built its Phoenix location in 1998, marking the health system's first campus outside of Minnesota. [CLICK HERE]

Mayo Clinic Jacksonville (Fla.). The 350-bed Mayo Clinic Hospital in Jacksonville houses a branch of the Mayo Clinic Cancer Center, which achieved designation from the National Cancer Institute as a comprehensive cancer center. [CLICK HERE]

Medical University of South Carolina Medical Center (Charleston). Medical University of South Carolina's Hollings Cancer Center is the only National Cancer Institute-designated cancer center in the state. [CLICK HERE]

Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (New York City). Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center has struck several partnerships to extend its reach in cancer care and research.  [CLICK HERE]

Mercy Hospital Springfield (Mo.). Mercy Hospital Springfield is the only children's cancer center in the region and one of seven nationwide to hold an affiliation with St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. [CLICK HERE]

Moffitt Cancer Center (Tampa, Fla.). H. Lee Moffitt opened Moffitt Cancer Center and Research Institute in 1986 as a 364,000-square-foot hospital dedicated to cancer care. [CLICK HERE]

Mount Sinai Hospital (New York City). Mount Sinai Hospital established the Tisch Cancer Institute, a National Cancer Institute-designated cancer center, in 2008 through a grant from James S. and Merryl Tisch.[CLICK HERE]

NorthShore University HealthSystem (Evanston, Ill.). Northwestern Memorial Hospital (Chicago). Northwestern University established its first cancer center in 1974, which became the Robert H. Lurie Cancer Center of Northwestern University in 1991 after an endowment from Ann and Robert H. Lurie.  [CLICK HERE]

Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center (Winston-Salem, N.C.). Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center's Novant Health Derrick L. Davis Cancer Center specialists diagnose approximately 3,000 cancer cases per year. [CLICK HERE]

NYU Langone Medical Center (New York City). NYU Langone Medical Center's Perlmutter Cancer Center is a National Cancer Institute-designated facility that includes more than 150 cancer specialists. [CLICK HERE]

The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center — Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute (Columbus). Oregon Health and Science University Hospital (Portland). Penn State Milton S. Hershey (Pa.) Medical Center. The Penn State Cancer Institute at Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center includes infusion therapy suites, chemotherapy and infusion pharmacy and an outdoor healing garden for patients and families.  [CLICK HERE]

St. Dominic-Jackson (Miss.) Memorial Hospital. The American College of Surgeons' Commission on Cancer selected 535-bed St. Dominic-Jackson Memorial Hospital to receive its outstanding achievement award in 2015. [CLICK HERE]

St. Luke's Boise (Idaho) Medical Center. St. Luke's Boise Medical Center is home to St. Luke's Mountain States Tumor Institute, which offers the only cancer treatment center for children and blood and marrow transplant program in the state.  [CLICK HERE]

St. Mary Medical Center (Langhorne, Pa.). St. Mary Regional Cancer Center is accredited by the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer and designated as a Community Hospital Comprehensive Cancer Program. [CLICK HERE].

HSHS St. Vincent Hospital (Green Bay, Wis.). The National Cancer Institute designated St. Vincent Hospital as a Community Clinical Oncology Program in 2002 and an NCI Community Oncology Research Program in 2014. [CLICK HERE]

Texas Children's Hospital (Houston). Each year, care teams at Texas Children's Hospital diagnose 3,060 new cancer cases, perform 120 bone marrow transplants and attend to 73,700 outpatient clinic visits [CLICK HERE]

Thomas Jefferson University Hospital (Philadelphia). Thomas Jefferson University Hospital is closely affiliated with Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center, a National Cancer Institute-designated cancer center that opened in 1993.  [CLICK HERE]

UC Irvine (Calif.) Health Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center. The Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center is a National Cancer Institute-designated comprehensive cancer center and home to four cancer research programs. [CLICK HERE]

UC San Diego Health. UC San Diego Health established Moores Cancer Center in 1978 to provide outpatient oncology services.  [CLICK HERE]

UCHealth University of Colorado Hospital (Aurora). UCHealth University of Colorado Cancer Center is Colorado's only National Cancer Institute-designated comprehensive cancer center and serves as a consortium of three state universities and the University of Colorado Health network. [CLICK HERE]

UCLA Medical Center (Los Angeles). The UCLA Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center was founded in the late 1960s when a group of scientists and volunteers came together to develop UCLA's cancer center. [CLICK HERE]

UCSF Medical Center (San Francisco). UCSF Medical Center is the No. 1 hospital in California and No. 6 in the nation for research grants from the National Cancer Institute. [CLICK HERE]

UF Health Shands Hospital (Gainesville, Fla.). The 500,000-square-foot UF Health Shands Cancer Hospital offers inpatient and outpatient oncology services and the Criser Cancer Resource Center, which is designed to promote education and wellness for cancer patients.  [CLICK HERE]

University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics (Iowa City). The 707-bed University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics is home to the Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center, which was founded in 1980.  [CLICK HERE]

University of Kansas Hospital (Kansas City). The University of Kansas Cancer Center provides clinical treatment as well as support and psychological services to help patients deal with cancer diagnosis and treatment.  [CLICK HERE]

University of Kentucky Albert B. Chandler Hospital (Lexington). University of Kentucky Albert B. Chandler Hospital is home to the Markey Cancer Center, which was established in 1983. [CLICK HERE]

University of Maryland Medical Center (Baltimore). The University of Maryland Marlene and Stewart Greenebaum Cancer Center received National Cancer Institute designation as a comprehensive cancer center in 2016.  [CLICK HERE]

University of Michigan Hospitals and Health Centers (Ann Arbor). The University of Michigan's Comprehensive Cancer Center, which opened in 1997, holds National Cancer Institute designation as a comprehensive cancer center. [CLICK HERE]

University of Minnesota Medical Center (Minneapolis). Masonic Cancer Center, part of the University of Minnesota's Academic Health Center, has held National Cancer Institute designation as a comprehensive cancer center since 1998. [CLICK HERE]

UNC Hospitals (Chapel Hill, N.C.). UNC's Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center is a research and treatment hub at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with its clinical base at N.C. University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center (Houston). In 1971, the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center became one of the nation's first institutions to earn the National Cancer Institute's comprehensive cancer center designation. [CLICK HERE]

University of Utah Health (Salt Lake City). University of Utah Health's Huntsman Cancer Institute, a 100-bed cancer hospital, is the only cancer institute in the world designed by a patient.  [CLICK HERE]

University of Virginia Medical Center (Charlottesville). University of Virginia Health System's UVA Cancer Center is a member of the Oncology Research and Information Exchange Network, a national research body dedicated to cancer diagnosis, treatment and prevention. [CLICK HERE]

UW Hospital and Clinics (Madison). UW Hospital and Clinics is home to the UW Carbone Cancer Center and McArdle Laboratory for Cancer Research, the first cancer research center in the U.S. founded by a university UW Carbone Cancer Center is the only National Cancer Institute-designated comprehensive cancer center and fully accredited breast cancer center in Wisconsin. [CLICK HERE]

WVU Cancer Institute (Morgantown, W. Va.). WVU Cancer Institute, previously known as the Mary Babb Randolph Cancer Center, is a member of the Appalachia Community Cancer Network and West Virginia Cancer Clinical Trials Network, a collaboration of cancer physicians and healthcare organizations dedicated to furthering cancer research and care.
