Chicago-based Mobile Doctors CEO Dike Ajiri has pleaded guilty to fraudulently increasing Medicare bills for in-home treatment that was shorter and less complicated than the claims indicated, according to the Department of Justice.
Mr. Ajiri admitted he altered patient files so the now-defunct company could bill several patient visits to Medicare at the highest possible level. Mr. Ajiri defrauded Medicare and the Railroad Retirement Board of nearly $1.9 million, according to the report.
Mr. Ajiri pleaded guilty to one count of healthcare fraud, and he faces a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison. His sentencing is scheduled for April 19, 2016.
