1. 3 NY hospitals included in $8M fraud, kickback settlement
Kingston, N.Y.-based Benedictine Hospital, Columbia Memorial Hospital in Hudson, N.Y., and Yonkers, N.Y.-based St. Joseph's Medical Center as well as St. Louis-based SpecialCare Hospital Management Corporation and its CEO agreed to pay more than $8 million to resolve claims that they defrauded the Medicare and Medicaid programs

5. Former hospital director sentenced to 9 years in prison
The former executive director of Springfield, Ill.-based HSHS St. John's Children's Hospital, Margaret Curtin, was sentenced to nine years in prison for stealing $700,000 from the hospital between December 2008 and September 2014.
6. Owner of 3 California medical clinics admits paying kickbacks to patient recruiters
Hovik Simitian, the owner and operator of three medical clinics in Los Angeles, pleaded guilty to submitting more than $4.5 million in fraudulent claims to Medicare.
