Marietta, Ga.-based WellStar Health System has cut 29 corporate positions, including the complete elimination of 11 "team member roles," according to an Atlanta Business Chronicle report.
Another 18 team members' positions were displaced Tuesday, meaning WellStar will try to place them in another open position within the system.
David Anderson, executive vice president of human resources and chief compliance officer for the system, said in a statement that "WellStar has been forced to make many difficult decisions" in light of federal reimbursement cuts.
"WellStar is realigning 29 corporate staff of its more than 13,000 total positions to more efficiently carry out its mission," Mr. Anderson said, according to the report.
