Saint Louis (Mo.) University and Quest Diagnostics partnered to launch a new medical laboratory science program at the university.
The 16-month accelerated bachelor’s degree program provides clinical experiences at the Quest laboratory in Lenexa, Kan., in addition to online and hands-on learning.
There is currently a shortage of employees in medical laboratory science, but the field is expected to grow by 17 percent by 2030, according to an Oct. 28 news release from the university.
The course will be offered to students three times per year starting in 2023 and, upon completion, students will be eligible to take the certification exam administered by the American Society for Clinical Pathology, the release said.
