Meadville (Pa.) Medical Center is closing one of its two outpatient labs for an unspecified amount of time, the Meadville Tribune reported Dec. 1.
A combination of issues related to the COVID-19 pandemic led to the closure, the report said. Staffing issues, supply shortages, and higher demand in COVID-19 collections all contributed to the decision, Don Rhoten, MMC vice president of consumer engagement, told the Tribune.
"Consolidating locations in order to maximize our resources is necessary at this time," Mr. Rhoten said.
The hospital will continue to offer outpatient lab services six days per week, according to the report.
