Officials at NYC Health + Hospitals said the health system plans to redesign its management structure over the next couple of months.
In a statement to Becker's Hospital Review, the health system said it is "redesigning [its] management structure to create a more efficient and financially sustainable organization that can direct resources where we need them most — at the front line of patient care." The system said the planned "management restructuring" will not impact patient care or services.
Officials said there are no targeted layoffs expected and there is no specific percentage of positions or savings target related to the restructuring.
Senior executives across the health system will each propose a restructured management team, according to health system officials, and the entire process will take a couple of months.
"I am confident that this [restructuring] is a necessary action to help build a stronger, agile and more stable organization, able to assure its future and ultimately preserve our mission to serve all New Yorkers without exception," said Stanley Brezenoff, interim president and CEO of NYC Health + Hospitals, in an April 19 internal memo obtained by Becker's.
