Geisinger looks to hire more than 150 nurses for northeast region

Danville, Pa.-based Geisinger Health System seeks to hire more than 150 nurses in the northeast region.

"Nurses are at the heart of what we do," Angelo Venditti, RN, CNO of Geisinger Northeast, said in a news release. "Each day, Geisinger nurses strive to bring the highest quality, most compassionate care to those in our community. We are seeking more than 150 critical nursing positions to deliver care to those who need it most and to be part of a team that is continually seeking to improve patient care."

The 150-plus jobs up for grabs include options for experienced nurses and new graduates, and are available in clinical and office locations in the Pennsylvania cities of Scranton and Wilkes-Barre, the health system said. The jobs include positions in areas such as the emergency department, critical care, medical/surgical, telemetry and progressive care unit, among others.

The health system's recruitment effort comes after a decade of unprecedented growth and a commitment to providing specialty care to patients close to home, Geisinger said.

Geisinger specifically pointed to its use of the EHR and its care models such as ProvenExperience, ProvenHealth Navigator and ProvenCare. Additionally, the health system noted its research efforts in the realm of genomics, as well as its health insurance product and its commitment to medical education.

As far as growth, Geisinger in the last decade has grown from two to 12 hospitals, expanded its service area from 30 to 45 counties and nearly tripled its number of employees, the health system said. Geisinger said it has filled 444 new positions since July 1, 2016.

For those interested in the open nursing positions, Geisinger notes that it offers nurses a comprehensive benefits package, shared governance structure, tuition assistance, professional certification support, advancement opportunities and hiring incentives up to $15,000.
