1. Mountain Valley expansion adds jobs, increases capacity
An expansion of Prescott Valley, Ariz.-based Mountain Valley Regional Rehabilitation Hospital not only created additional beds and an enlarged gym and treatment area, but also about 15 to 20 new jobs, reports The Daily Courier. The expansion comes as the hospital celebrates 10 years of serving patients, according to the article.
2. UCHealth Broomfield Hospital opens
Aurora, Colo.-based UCHealth opened a new hospital in Broomfield, Colo., boasting 18 private inpatient rooms and a four-bed intensive care unit, designed to improve access to emergency medical care. UCHealth added roughly 100 new jobs with the opening of this hospital.
3. Fazzi to create 300 jobs in Ireland with new healthcare services and coding company
Fazzi Healthcare Services, part of Northhampton, Mass.-based Fazzi Associates, has established a healthcare services and coding company in Limerick, Ireland, according to IDA Ireland. The project is expected to create 300 jobs over five years.
4. WellStar Paulding Hospital completes expansion efforts, doubles bed count
WellStar Paulding Hospital completed a two-story renovation of its Hiram, Ga.-based facility, doubling its bed count from 56 to 112, reported the Dallas Patch. The addition also created 124 jobs at the hospital.
5. Oneview Healthcare to create 100 new jobs
Oneview Healthcare, a Dublin, Ireland-based company focused on patient engagement technology, plans to create 100 new jobs during 2016. The company will create 50 jobs for its offices in Dublin and another 50 for its international offices.
6. University of Chicago Medicine breaks ground on new ER
The University of Chicago Medicine will hold a ceremonial groundbreaking Sept. 15 to mark the start of a $43 million project to construct a new emergency department, bringing trauma services to the city's south side for the first time in 25 years, according to the Chicago Tribune. The project is expected to bring nearly 1,000 permanent jobs and roughly 400 construction jobs to the city.
7. Cigna to hire 70 in Pennsylvania
Health insurer Cigna will add 70 customer service jobs at its Moosic, Pa., office in anticipation of an increased demand for healthcare services, The Times-Tribune reports. The positions will be added to the roughly 600 customer service employees at the office.
8. Atos to double DFW employee numbers after Anthelio acquisition
Atos, a French IT company, plans to have as many as 2,000 employees in the Dallas-Fort Worth area within the next five years, reports Dallas Business Journal. This plan follows the company's recent acquisition of Dallas-based Anthelio Healthcare Solutions for $275 million.
9. OhioHealth move expected to bring thousands of jobs with new Columbus headquarters
OhioHealth expects to bring more than 2,500 jobs to the area around Columbus-based OhioHealth Riverside Methodist Hospital with the building of a new corporate headquarters, reports Columbus Business First. OhioHealth plans to move its headquarters from downtown Columbus to a new 240,000-square-foot office building near Riverside Methodist.
10. Tennessee hospital to add 400 new jobs with expansion
TrustPoint Hospital in Murfreesboro, Tenn., is planning a $57 million expansion that would add nearly 150 new beds and 400 new jobs to the facility, reports Nashville Public Radio. The news comes as the hospital was recently acquired by Franklin, Tenn.-based Acadia Healthcare.
11. Immucor to bring 64 jobs to Wisconsin
Immucor, a provider of transfusion and transplantation diagnostic products, plans to add 64 new employees as it expands its operations in Brookfield, Wis., according to a Milwaukee Business Journal report. The Norcross, Ga.-based company will spend $1.58 million on new equipment and facility upgrades at its Brookfield location, according to the article.
12. SSM Health to put on virtual job fair
St. Louis-based SSM Health is hiring for the Maryville (Mo.) health center and other SSM facilities across four states, reports the Maryville Daily Forum. To recruit for these positions, the system scheduled a 12-hour virtual job fair Sept. 7.
