Yale-New Haven, St. Raphael Merger Receives Last Regulatory Approval

Yale-New Haven (Conn.) Hospital received approval from the state's Department of Public Health for its proposed acquisition of the Hospital of St. Raphael in New Haven, according to a Yale Daily News report.

The Department of Health's Office of Health Care Access signed off on an "Agreed Settlement," which will allow the hospitals to merge into a single 12,000-employee entity. This approval was the last regulatory step needed for the $160 million acquisition, according to the release.

The acquisition received approval from Connecticut Attorney General George Jepsen in June after an antitrust review in conjunction with the Federal Trade Commission.

The hospitals are expected to close the deal July 27.
