Saint Mary's Health System in Waterbury, Conn., has signed an agreement to join Livonia, Mich.-based Trinity Health's network.
Trinity Health is also in the process of absorbing another health system in the state — Hartford, Conn.-based Saint Francis Care.
"The addition of the Saint Mary's Health System to our emerging regional partnership is an exciting development that promises to dramatically expand the delivery of progressive healthcare in New England," said Saint Francis Care President and CEO Christopher M. Dadlez. Mr. Dadlez will serve as the president and CEO of Trinity's Health's New England Region.
Trinity Health, which operates 86 hospitals in 21 states, is not paying cash for Saint Mary's, but it has promised to spend $100 million over five years in Waterbury, according to a Harford Courant report.
Saint Mary's deal to join Trinity Health still requires regulatory approval, while the Saint Francis-Trinity Health deal is expected to close Oct. 1.
