San Diego-based Scripps Health and Irvine Company today opened Scripps HealthExpress, a new retail health clinic designed to offer convenient health and wellness services at an Irvine Company office complex in University City in San Diego.
Irvine Company Office Properties owns and operates a portfolio of about 500 high-end buildings in Orange County, Los Angeles, Silicon Valley and San Diego.
The 1,691-square-foot retail clinic features a medical office operated by Scripps Clinic with four exam rooms. At Scripps HealthExpress, Scripps caregivers offer a range of medical and wellness services on an appointment and walk-in basis, such as physicals, diet and nutrition counseling, disease prevention programs, treatment and evaluation for minor conditions, health screenings, immunizations, prescription refills and diagnostic tests.
Scripps HealthExpress is open Monday through Friday. The retail clinic accepts most insurance as well as cash payment.
"At Scripps, we believe it is important that healthcare is convenient and affordable," said Chris Van Gorder, president and CEO of Scripps. "Scripps HealthExpress provides healthcare close to where people work, which makes getting the care they need that much easier and we also want to work with employers across the region to help them maintain a healthy workplace."
This is the first healthcare facility in San Diego County to open in a workplace community, and it is the health system's first expansion into retail health. Mr. Van Gorder said the clinic, which emphasizes speed and convenience, is one way the health system is increasing its focus on the customer.
Early next year, Irvine Company will open a new concept called Kinetic, which expands on the retail health effort. It will offer healthcare through its partnership with Scripps, corporate wellness and fitness all under one roof.
