Traverse City, Mich.-based Munson Healthcare has partnered with St. Ignace, Mich.-based Mackinac Straits Health System to improve patient care, according to a 9&10 News report.
The regional affiliation agreement allows Mackinac Straits Health System to access a variety of Munson Healthcare's services. Through the affiliation, Mackinac Straits will also be able to improve its resource use and decrease costs. As a critical access hospital, Mackinac Straits expects to benefit from collaboration with other critical access hospitals in the Munson Healthcare system as well.
The agreement doesn't change Mackinac Straits' ownership or management. It will remain a nonprofit organization.
"Our goal with this affiliation is to support Mackinac Straits Health System as it delivers high-quality local care," said Munson Healthcare CEO and president Ed Ness. "It also allows us to coordinate both of our efforts to ensure high-quality, patient-centered care across the region."
