Fulton (Mo.) Medical Center is slated to close by Sept. 22, but officials hope to keep the facility open by securing a buyer, according to the Columbia Daily Tribune.
Fulton Medical Center's owner, Leawood, Kan.-based NueHealth, revealed plans Monday to close the hospital. Following the announcement, local officials met with healthcare consulting firm Newpoint Health Advisors to discuss their options for saving Fulton Medical Center.
"Our hope is that we can somehow convince a major player in the healthcare industry that we definitely have a value," Callaway County Presiding Commissioner Gary Jungermann told the Columbia Daily Tribune after the meeting.
Mr. Jungermann said he hopes local officials and NueHealth can work together to secure a buyer for Fulton Medical Center that can turn around the hospital's finances.
