Cincinnati-based Mercy Health acquired the Orthopedic Institute of Western Kentucky in Paducah, effective Jan. 1.
The Orthopedic Institute of Western Kentucky, newly named Mercy Health – Western Kentucky Orthopedic Center, has seven physicians and nine physician assistants. Both organizations are working to ensure a smooth transition with no disruptions to patient care.
"The acquisition aligns with our mission to provide exceptional care to the communities we serve," Mike Yungmann, president of Mercy Health, Kentucky, said in a Jan. 10 news release. "By combining our resources and expertise, we now offer an even more comprehensive orthopedic program to the patients of the Paducah region.“
Mercy Health-Paducah is part of Bon Secours Mercy Health, which operates 48 hospitals and is the fifth-largest Catholic health system in the country, according to its website.
