Rhode Island officials have postponed a public hearing on New London, Conn.-based Lawrence + Memorial Hospital's $69 million bid to purchase the flailing Westerly (R.I.) Hospital because the application proposing the sale was deemed incomplete, according to a report by the Westerly Sun.
Westerly Hospital was placed into receivership in December last year after decades of negative financial performance.
The hearing, originally scheduled to take place Feb. 4, will be moved back to an undetermined date. In its proposal, the two-hospital L+M system agreed to keep the 125-bed Westerly Hospital open to provide acute care for at least five years and maintain other lines of service for at least two years, according to the report.
