Waterbury (Conn.) Hospital is seeking to merge with Los Angeles-based Prospect Medical Holdings, and the for-profit hospital chain will dole out $100 million for the Connecticut facility and its affiliated businesses, according to a Hartford Courant report.
The price was included in a preliminary merger application filed with the Connecticut Department of Health and the attorney general, according to the report.
Waterbury Hospital was set to join Dallas-based Tenet Healthcare last year, but the for-profit hospital operator called off the deal in December 2014. Tenet offered $45 million as the purchase price for Waterbury Hospital in addition to $55 million in promised capital improvements. The breakdown of the amount Prospect would pay under the proposed transaction is expected to be similar to that of the Tenet deal, according to the report.
