The Guthrie Clinic in Sayre, Pa., has completed the acquisition of Our Lady of Lourdes Memorial Hospital System from St. Louis-based Ascension, according to financial documents published Feb. 16.
The transaction includes Lourdes Hospital in Binghamton, N.Y., its locations and related physician practices. Lourdes includes 24/7 emergency and acute care; specialty care; ambulatory surgery; a cancer center; a health and wellness center; and a network of primary care providers.
"Like Lourdes, Guthrie has a strong tradition of serving our communities, providing care to patients where they are," Guthrie President and CEO Edmund Sabanegh Jr. MD, said in a news release. "This transaction will enable a continuation of this joint tradition and strengthen our investments in care delivery, patient outcomes and experience for the greater Binghamton community."
The deal closed Feb. 1 and increased the number of hospitals in Guthrie's portfolio to six. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Earlier this month, Ascension announced plans to sell its Via Christi Hospital in Pittsburgh, Kan. to St. Louis-based Mercy.
