1. AmSurg, Envision Healthcare ink merger: 7 things to know
Denver-based Envision Healthcare Holdings and Nashville, Tenn.-based AmSurg Corp. agreed to merge, creating a healthcare services company worth $10 billion.
2. St. Joseph Health to form joint venture with UCSF Benioff Children's Hospitals
St. Joseph Health — which includes Santa Rosa (Calif.) Memorial Hospital and Petaluma (Calif.) Valley Hospital — and UCSF Benioff Children's Hospitals in San Francisco signed a joint venture agreement to enhance and expand neonatal and pediatric services.
3. Bain Capital buying majority stake in Navicure: 7 things to know
Claims clearinghouse and revenue cycle management vendor Navicure signed a definitive agreement to receive a strategic investment from Bain Capital Private Equity, a global private investment firm.
4. Kern Medical Center transferred to new hospital authority
Ownership of Bakersfield, Calif.-based Kern Medical Center transferred to the Kern County Hospital Authority, a newly created and independent governing body.
5. RoundTable Healthcare Partners sells topical pharma business for $950M
Lake Forest, Ill.-based RoundTable Healthcare Partners sold its topical pharmaceutical business for $950 million in cash and up to $50 million in contingent payments to Canonsburg, Pa.-based pharmaceutical company Mylan N.V.
6. MedData to acquire RCM company for $400M
MedData, a MEDNAX company and a national provider of technology-enabled healthcare services, agreed to acquire Cardon Outreach, one of the nation's largest providers of integrated revenue cycle management services.
7. Thermo Fisher Scientific, West China Hospital partner for precision medicine
Waltham, Mass.-based Thermo Fisher Scientific will partner with West China Hospital of Sichuan University to collaborate on precision medicine research initiatives.
8. Ontario Systems takes over Ultimate Business Systems: 5 things to know
Muncie, Ind.-based Ontario Systems, a revenue cycle management and accounts receivable management software and services provider, acquired Columbia Ultimate Business Systems in Vancouver, Wash.
