The following healthcare mergers, acquisitions and general transactions took place or were announced within the past week.
1. Trinity Health expands network in New York
St. Joseph's Health, a nonprofit system based in Syracuse, N.Y., is now a member of Livonia, Mich.-based Trinity Health.
2. Good Samaritan Health System officially joins WellSpan
Good Samaritan Health System in Lebanon, Pa., finalized its partnership with WellSpan Health, based in York, Pa., after nearly a year of due diligence.
3. Washington Health System acquires hospital from RegionalCare Hospital Partners
Washington (Pa.) Health System completed its previously announced acquisition of Southwest Regional Medical Center in Waynesburg, Pa., from Brentwood, Tenn.-based RegionalCare Hospital Partners.
4. Capella to acquire hospitals from Ascension, expand network in 2 states
Franklin, Tenn.-based Capella Healthcare signed letters of intent to acquire Pasco, Wash.-based Lourdes Health Network and St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Lewiston, Idaho, which are both currently part of St. Louis-based Ascension.
5. Baystate Health acquires another Massachusetts hospital
Springfield, Mass.-based Baystate Health acquired Westfield, Mass.-based Noble Hospital.
6. Penn State Health acquires St. Joseph Regional Health Network: 6 things to know
Reading, Pa.-based St. Joseph Regional Health Network, previously an affiliate of Englewood, Colo.-based Catholic Health Initiatives, is now part of Penn State Health, a nonprofit organization based in Hershey.
7. 2 Iowa hospitals combine operations
Mercy Medical Center-Des Moines completed its acquisition of Skiff Medical Center in Newton, Iowa.
