The following healthcare mergers, acquisitions and general transactions took place or were announced within the past week.
1. Optum acquires urgent care company
UnitedHealth Group's Optum division acquired MedExpress, an operator of urgent care clinics across the nation.
2. Stanford Health Care, ValleyCare merger approved
Stanford (Calif.) Health Care received approval from California Attorney General Kamala Harris to move forward with its acquisition of Pleasanton, Calif.-based ValleyCare Health System.
3. Boston Medical Center, Tufts push to complete merger deal this year
Boston Medical Center, the largest safety-net hospital in Massachusetts, and Tufts Medical Center in Boston are involved in merger negotiations and are working to have the deal completed by the end of 2015.
4. Meridian Health, Raritan Bay finalize merger
The boards of trustees of Neptune, N.J.-based Meridian Health and the parent organization of Perth Amboy, N.J-based Raritan Bay Medical Center approved a definitive merger agreement.
5. Scripps Health acquires North County Radiation Oncology Centers
San Diego-based Scripps Clinic Medical Group, part of Scripps Health, acquired CyberKnife of Southern California in Vista, Calif., Oncology Therapies of Vista and Pacific Radiation Oncology in Encinitas, Calif.
6. Palisades Medical Center to join Hackensack University Health Network
North Bergen, N.J.-based Palisades Medical Center signed a definitive agreement to join Hackensack (N.J.) University Health Network.
