1. Atlantic Health System expands reach in New Jersey
A New Jersey Superior Court judge approved Morristown, N.J.-based Atlantic Health System's acquisition of Hackettstown (N.J.) Regional Medical Center.
2. Walgreens partners with UnitedHealth's pharmacy arm
Walgreens and OptumRx, UnitedHealth Group's freestanding pharmacy care services business, are joining forces.
3. West Virginia hospital merger clears regulatory hurdle, still faces FTC opposition
The West Virginia Health Care Authority approved the proposed merger of Cabell Huntington (W.Va.) Hospital and Huntington-based St. Mary's Medical Center. A new law in the state allows the hospitals to avoid the Federal Trade Commission's challenge to the transaction.
4. Mercy Health signs affiliation agreement with Henry County Hospital
Toledo, Ohio-based Mercy Health and Napoleon, Ohio-based Henry County Hospital entered into an affiliation agreement.
5. Group Health approves $1.8B acquisition by Kaiser
Voting members of Seattle-based Group Health Cooperative agreed to join with Oakland, Calif.-based Kaiser Permanente.
