1. WellStar calls off merger talks with Emory
Marietta, Ga.-based WellStar Health System, the largest nonprofit system in Georgia, scrapped plans to merge with Atlanta-based Emory Healthcare.
2. St. Mary's Health Care System acquires Ty Cobb Regional Medical Center
Athens, Ga.-based St. Mary's Health Care System acquired Lavonia, Ga.-based Ty Cobb Regional Medical Center.
3. Trinity Health to join Billings Clinic RegionalCare
Trinity Health, a nonprofit health system based in Minot, N.D., signed a letter of intent to become part of Billings Clinic RegionalCare, a joint venture between Billings (Mont.) Clinic and RegionalCare Hospital Partners, based in Brentwood, Tenn.
4. Ascension, Dignity, Tenet close to finalizing joint venture
Carondelet Health Network, based in Tucson, Ariz., and its parent company, St. Louis-based Ascension Health, are close to finalizing a deal with San Francisco-based Dignity Health and a subsidiary of Dallas-based Tenet Healthcare to create a joint venture.
