1. UPMC expands footprint into NY
WCA Hospital in Jamestown, N.Y., became the first hospital outside Pennsylvania to integrate with Pittsburgh-based UPMC.
2. Rutgers University Medical School in the running to manage Bergen Regional
Newark, N.J.-based Rutgers University Medical School submitted a proposal to manage Paramus, N.J.-based Bergen Regional Medical Center once the current hospital operator's contract expires in March 2017.
3. WKU still searching for partner after sports medicine complex deadline passes
Bowling Green-based Western Kentucky University officials said they were unable to find a single organization to lease the campus health clinic, provide orthopedic services for student athletes and construct a sports medicine complex on campus.
4. Alabama medical center sells for $4M
Garden Grove, Calif.-based Jabbel Holdings purchased Gilbert, Ariz.-based Harbor Shores Medical Center for $4 million.
5. Family Care Partners to acquire Wagener Medical Center
Fort Mill, S.C.-based Family Care Partners acquired Wagener (S.C.) Medical Center.
6. Envision Healthcare acquires Alabama neonatal clinic
Greenwood Village, Colo.-based Envision Healthcare's physician services business acquired Montgomery-based Alabama Neonatal Medicine, expanding Envision's footprint in the state.
7. Northwestern University, AbbVie partner on oncology research
Evanston, Ill.-based Northwestern University and Chicago-based pharmaceutical company AbbVie signed a five-year collaboration agreement to advance research and discovery in oncology.
8. CHS moves forward with sale of home health business
Federal regulators approved Louisville, Ky.-based Almost Family's intent to purchase a controlling interest in Franklin, Tenn.-based Community Health Systems' CHS Home Health.
9. Abbott files to terminate $5.8B Alere deal
Abbot Park, Ill.-based Abbott Laboratories filed a complaint seeking to terminate its planned acquisition of Waltham, Mass.-based Alere Dec. 7.
10. Omnyx concludes UPMC affiliation, shutters headquarters
Omnyx, a digital pathology venture between UPMC and GE Healthcare, will end its eight-year partnership with Pittsburgh-based UPMC once GE Healthcare acquires the company by the end of December.
11. Elliot Health System, Bob's Discount Furniture team up to promote early literacy in children
Manchester, N.H.-based Elliot Health System and Manchester, Conn.-based Bob's Discount Furniture teamed up to show children in the Elliot Childcare Center how much fun reading can be.
12. Seton Healthcare Family, ProperCare to launch geriatric care management pilot program
Austin, Texas-based Seton Healthcare Family and geriatric care specialty group ProperCare, also in Austin, partnered on a pilot program to equip aging patients and their families with the support and resources necessary to recuperate at home post discharge.
13. 4 Texas healthcare providers develop clinical partnership to fight breast cancer
Austin, Texas-based Seton Healthcare Family, Dallas-based Texas Oncology, the Austin (Texas) Radiological Association and The University of Texas at Austin developed a clinical partnership to study how advanced imaging methods may help fight and treat breast cancer.
14. John Muir Health, Stanford Children's Health expand partnership to promote children's care services
Walnut Creek, Calif.-based John Muir Health and Paolo Alto, Calif.-based Stanford Children's Health continue to expand an existing partnership to provide community members with access to children's specialty care services.
15. Aurora Health Care to operate clinics at select Walgreens locations
Milwaukee, Wis.-based Aurora Health Care will own, operate and provide clinical services at eight Walgreens retail health clinics across eastern Wisconsin by the end of spring 2017.
16. Mount Sinai to partner with CityMD to expand urgent care services throughout NY
New York City-based Mount Sinai Health System will collaborate with New York City-based urgent care provider CityMD to develop a program that will ensure patients have timely access to healthcare.
17. Sitka Hospital board approves LOI to combine operations with Mt. Edgecumbe Hospital
The Sitka (Alaska) Community Hospital board authorized a letter of intent to integrate operations with Sitka-based Mt. Edgecumbe Hospital, a member of the Southeast Alaska Regional Health Consortium of hospitals.
18. Anesthesiology Consultants, US Anesthesia Partners team up
Fort Lauderdale, Fla.-based U.S. Anesthesia Partners and Las Vegas-based Anesthesiology Consultants agreed to form a partnership.
19. Summit Healthcare Regional Medical Center to join Mayo Clinic Care Network
Show Low, Ariz.-based Summit Healthcare Regional Medical Center is the latest organization to join the Mayo Clinic Care Network, a network of health systems and hospitals originally created by the Rochester, Minn.-based Mayo Clinic.
20. Navicent Health, Cowles Clinic declare strategic partnership
Macon, Ga.-based Navicent Health and Greensboro, Ga.-based Cowles Clinic agreed to form a strategic partnership to provide patients in the Greene, Morgan and Putnam County areas access to high-quality care.
21. State grants Massena Memorial Hospital certificate of need necessary to privatize
The New York Department of Health granted Massena (N.Y.) Memorial Hospital a certificate of need allowing the hospital to establish a nonprofit corporation to privatize and to help pay off its $5.8 million debt by the end of January.
22. UT Health Northeast, MD Anderson partner to fight cancer
Tyler-based The University of Texas Health Northeast and Houston-based The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center will partner to provide cancer detection, treatment and prevention techniques to residents in northeast Texas.
