1. CHS sells controlling interest in home health business to drive down debt
Franklin, Tenn.-based Community Health Systems completed the sale of a majority interest in CHS Home Health to Louisville, Ky.-based Almost Family, a home health nursing services provider.
2. Dignity Health partners with Kindred for outpatient therapy
Dignity Health Dominican Hospital in Santa Cruz, Calif., partnered with Kindred Rehabilitation Services.
3. Banner's management of Alaska hospital comes to an end
Fairbanks (Alaska) Memorial Hospital's more than 15-year affiliation with Phoenix-based Banner Health came to an end Jan. 1.
4. UW Health, Marshfield Clinic drop out of Wisconsin's AboutHealth network
UW Health and Marshfield Clinic Health System's Jan. 1 departure from AboutHealth, a statewide collaborative, brings the number of health systems participating in the Wisconsin network from eight to six.
5. Envision acquires 16-physician anesthesia group in Arizona
Greenwood Village, Colo.-based Envision Healthcare Corporation's physician services division acquired Tucson, Ariz.-based Oro Valley Anesthesia.
6. Fairview adds Grand Itasca Clinic & Hospital to system
Grand Rapids, Minn.-based Grand Itasca Clinic & Hospital became a wholly-owned subsidiary of Minneapolis-based Fairview Health Services Jan. 1.
7. Bronx-Lebanon Hospital, American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine affiliate for medical student education
New York-based Bronx-Lebanon Hospital Center and the American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine on the island of Saint Martin inked a 10-year affiliation agreement to allow AUC medical students to complete clinical training at Bronx-Lebanon.
8. 2017 brings KU Hospital, Hays Medical Center partnership into effect
Kansas City-based The University of Kansas Hospital's partnership agreement with Hays (Kan.) Medical Center took effect Jan. 1.
9. Fla. Keys hospital board requests divestiture from CHS
The Lower Florida Keys Hospital District board requested Franklin, Tenn.-based Community Health Systems add Lower Keys Medical Center to its growing portfolio of hospital divestures.
10. Albany Medical Center, Saratoga Hospital finalize alliance
Albany (N.Y.) Medical Center and Saratoga Hospital in Saratoga Springs, N.Y., finalized their affiliation agreement in the first week of 2017.
11. State regulators OK Kaiser's $2B takeover of Group Health; deal awaits commissioner's decision
Washington state insurance regulators endorsed Kaiser Permanente's proposed acquisition of Seattle-based Group Health Cooperative in a hearing before Insurance Commissioner Mike Kreidler Jan. 4.

14. Global Medical REIT to acquire Kansas hospital for $24.5M
Global Medical REIT, a Bethesda, Md.-based company engaged in the acquisition and leasing of healthcare facilities, entered into an agreement Dec. 30 to acquire 33-bed Great Bend (Kan.) Regional Hospital.
15. Saratoga Hospital, YMCA partner for $7M physician office
Saratoga Springs, N.Y.-based Saratoga Hospital and the Saratoga Regional YMCA filed plans to build a $7 million medical office in Malta, N.Y.
16. Envision Healthcare scoops up another physician practice in acquisition spree
Greenwood Village, Colo.-based Envision Healthcare's physician services division acquired the 50-physician Emergency Professional Services group in Phoenix Jan. 5.
17. Wellmont acquires Takoma Regional Hospital
Kingsport, Tenn.-based Wellmont Health System acquired Takoma Regional Hospital, a 100-bed hospital in Greeneville, Tenn.
