1. 2 Georgia health systems announce massive merger plans: 5 things to know
Two Georgia health systems — Northside Hospital and Gwinnett Medical Center — are exploring a merger to create a combined system that would have nearly 1,400 beds, more than 16,000 employees and nearly 3,500 physicians on staff.
2. Cedars-Sinai acquires Marina Del Rey Hospital
Los Angeles-based Cedars-Sinai Health System purchased 145-bed Marina Del Rey (Calif.) Hospital.
3. Tenet, Ascension and Dignity Health finalize joint venture to own Arizona health system
Dallas-based Tenet Healthcare, St. Louis-based Ascension and San Francisco-based Dignity Health finalized a joint venture to own and operate Carondelet Health Network based in Tucson, Ariz.
4. University Hospitals to assume sole ownership of St. John Medical Center
University Hospitals and Sisters of Charity Health System, both based in Cleveland, signed an agreement to transfer sole ownership of St. John Medical Center in Westlake, Ohio, to UH.
5. Prime Healthcare completes purchase of Trinity Health hospital
Ontario, Calif.-based Prime Healthcare Services completed its purchase of St. Joseph Mercy Port Huron (Mich.) from Livonia, Mich.-based Trinity Health.
6. South Carolina hospital on verge of closure secures new owner
Union, S.C.-based Wallace Thomson Hospital is now Union Medical Center and is part of Spartanburg (S.C.) Regional Healthcare System.
7. St. Louis University Hospital joins SSM Health: 4 things to know
St. Louis-based SSM Health completed its previously announced purchase of Saint Louis University Hospital.
8. Crittenton Hospital inks deal to join Ascension Michigan: 5 things to know
St. Louis-based Ascension signed a definitive agreement with Crittenton Hospital Medical Center in Rochester, Mich., for the facility to become part of Ascension Michigan.
9. Watertown Regional Medical Center and LifePoint finalize JV: 8 things to know
Brentwood, Tenn.-based LifePoint Health and Watertown (Wis.) Regional Medical Center finalized a previously announced joint venture to share ownership and operation of the hospital.
10. Saint Francis Hospital, Trinity Health merger gets OK from Vatican and state
Hartford, Conn.-based Saint Francis Hospital announced Sept. 1 the Vatican approved its merger with Livonia, Mich.-based Trinity Health.
11. Jasper County Hospital joins Franciscan Alliance: 4 things to know
Mishawaka, Ind.-based Franciscan Alliance finalized its previously announced purchase of Jasper County Hospital in Rensselaer, Ind.
12. Lahey, Beth Israel Deaconess in merger talks for 3rd time
Boston-based Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Burlington, Mass.-based Lahey Health are exploring a merger to better compete with Partners HealthCare, Boston's dominant healthcare provider.
