Novant, Duke University Health System explore clinical collaborations

Winston-Salem, N.C.-based Novant Health and Durham, N.C.-based Duke University Health System are exploring ways the two systems can collaborate on clinical services and value-based care network initiatives.

By joining forces, the two systems aim to advance the delivery of high-quality patient care, maximize the use of medical and information technology, reduce costs of care and initiate approaches to population health.

"Solutions to the challenges of enhancing the quality, safety and value of clinical services while also moving toward population health management will likely come through collaborations between organizations with compatible views of the future and commitment to patients," said William J. Fulkerson Jr., MD, executive vice president of Duke University Health System. "We are pleased to have the opportunity to creatively explore and share ideas together with Novant Health."

Novant Health President and CEO Carls S. Armato also showed excitement about the possibility of the collaboration. "The opportunity to work together with Duke University Health System to identify greater efficiencies and more ways to bring together world-class technology and clinicians gets us one step close to our goals," he said.
