Raleigh, N.C.-based Rex Healthcare has formally changed its name to UNC REX Healthcare to further cement its position as a part of Chapel Hill, N.C.-based UNC Health Care.
UNC REX President Steve Burriss said the new name will remind patients that UNC REX and UNC Medical Center are unified under the UNC Health Care system brand.
"The new name is respectful of Rex's history and heritage in Raleigh, while better incorporating our system name to help extend our hospital system's excellent reputation on a statewide and national level," said Mr. Burriss.
