Providence St. Mary Eliminates 10 Positions

Providence St. Mary Medical Center in Walla Walla, Wash., is in the process of eliminating 10 positions, about 1 percent of its workforce, according to a Union-Bulletin report.

Some of the employees affected by the cuts have been moved to other open positions at the hospital, according to the report. Those who will be laid off will receive severance packages, counseling and job search assistance.

Most of the eliminated positions are in nursing and nursing-related areas, according to the report, but should not have an affect on patient care. The cuts are in departments that have seen a decline in patient volume.
