Vero Beach, Fla.-based Indian River Medical Center plans to lay off 39 workers and cut employee benefits, according to a Health News Florida report.
The employee-related changes stem from the hospital's attempt to trim $10 million from its expenses. The hospital is facing financial issues due to healthcare reform and the state legislature's decision to turn down federal funds to expand Medicaid, according to the report.
