The Trump administration has committed to continue to pay insurers cost-sharing reductions amid a lawsuit about the constitutionality of their funding brought by House Republicans against the Obama administration, according to a report from The Hill.
Under the ACA, the Obama administration paid insurers cost-sharing reductions to help offset the cost of providing discounted deductibles to low-income ACA enrollees. Two years ago, House Republicans filed a lawsuit questioning the legality of the payments because no specific appropriation was created for them. In February, the Trump administration delayed the lawsuit while it decided whether to continue the payments.
If payments were ended abruptly, it would likely make the exchanges unsustainable for payers, according to The Hill.
