The Colorado Commission on Affordable Health Care released a report Friday calling for "extraordinary public leadership" from state officials if they hope to keep healthcare costs down for state residents, according to the Denver Post.
The report suggests maintaining more transparency in the field and creating a database of average procedure costs so patients can compare prices across hospitals and providers. It also calls for more thorough data analytics from the state so they can better understand the information they collect.
"Just as no single factor is responsible for our high and rising healthcare costs, no single policy solution will be adequate to meet this challenge, " the report states.
