NYC Health + Hospitals, New York City's public health system, has appointed Plachikkat Anantharam CFO.
Here are four things to know about Mr. Anantharam.
1. His appointment was approved Nov. 17 by the NYC Health + Hospitals Board of Directors and took effect immediately.
2. He has served as deputy director for health and social services at the New York City Office of Management and Budget since 1998. In that role, he oversaw the management and development of municipal budgets and financial reporting for health and social services. He also provided fiscal oversight and strategic review and guidance to NYC Health + Hospitals and other city human services agencies.
3. In his newest role, Mr. Anantharam said he looks forward to working with NYC Health + Hospitals President Ram Raju, MD, on the health system's "2020 Vision" expansion plan, which was rolled out in 2014. The plan seeks to increase the number of patients using the system to 2 million annually and double membership in its MetroPlus Health Plan to 1 million by 2020.
4. Mr. Anantharam replaces outgoing CFO Marlene Zurack, who will retire at the end of November as senior vice president of finance and managed care and corporate CFO after 15 years at NYC Health + Hospitals.
