W. Larry Cash, president of financial services and CFO of Franklin, Tenn.-based Community Health Systems, will retire from his executive management position and the company's board of directors on May 16.
Mr. Cash joined CHS as CFO in September 1997. He was elected to the company's board of directors in 2001.
Commenting on Mr. Cash's retirement, CHS Chairman and CEO Wayne T. Smith said, "No one has been more involved or more influential in shaping the evolution of Community Health Systems over the past two decades than Larry Cash. I am extremely grateful to Larry for his significant contributions, and I am proud of all that we have accomplished."
Once he retires, Mr. Cash will enter into a consulting agreement with CHS and advise the company's management team on finance, management and operations issues.
Thomas J. Aaron, who currently serves as senior vice president-finance at CHS, will take over as the company's CFO immediately following Mr. Cash's retirement. Mr. Aaron joined CHS in November after a 32-year career at Deloitte & Touche.
