CEO of Kentucky's Westlake Regional Resigns Over Dispute With Board

Rex "Rusty" Tungate, the long-time CEO of Westlake Regional Hospital in Columbia, Ky., resigned from his position yesterday following a dispute with the hospital's board of trustees, according to an Adair Progress report.

The dispute regarded Westlake employees' roles with two other area hospitals — Jane Todd Crawford Memorial Hospital in Greensburg, Ky., and Casey County Hospital in Liberty, Ky. While Mr. Tungate's contract had him serving as CEO of all three hospitals, the board wanted him to work solely for Westlake, effective immediately.

Mr. Tungate was informed of this decision last week and resigned yesterday as a result. Eight other employees in management positions with the hospital also resigned, as the board wanted them to exclusively serve for Westgate rather than all three hospitals as well.
