Brigham and Women's CFO to move to another Boston hospital: 5 things to know

Michael Reney, senior vice president and CFO at Boston-based Brigham and Women's Hospital, is leaving his position to become CFO of Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, also in Boston, according to a Boston Business Journal report.

Here are five things to know about Mr. Reney.

1. He will begin his new position this fall.

2. Mr. Reney has worked as senior vice president and CFO at Brigham and Women’s for the last seven years.

3. His 25-year career includes roles at Boston-based Massachusetts General Hospital, as well as at the Brigham and MGH's parent institution Boston-based Partners HealthCare.

4. In a news release announcing Mr. Reney's move, Edward Benz, MD, president and CEO of Dana-Farber, said, "Michael's substantial financial experience, both in healthcare delivery and in research, as well as his ability to identify business opportunities and develop long-term strategic plans, will make him an a critical contributor to the leadership of the Institute."

5. Mr. Reney leaves Brigham as the hospital strives to save $10 million as costs rise faster than revenues. The hospital recently announced that it intends to cut 100 positions to help stay afloat.
