Ascension Wisconsin, part of St. Louis-based Ascension Health, plans to set up a northern and a southern region, each led by a president.
Recruitment efforts for both leaders are under way.
Daniel Neufelder, president of Milwaukee-based Ministry Health Care, will not pursue the new position of president of the northern region of Ascension Wisconsin, according to a news release. Mr. Neufelder joined the organization a decade ago as president and CEO of Menasha, Wis.-based Affinity Health System and transitioned to Ministry Health Care when it fully acquired Affinity in 2012. He succeeded Nick Desien as president and CEO of Ministry Health Care in December 2014.
Mr. Neufelder will stay in his current role until the new president of the northern region has been recruited and oriented to the position over the next few months. After leaving his post, Mr. Neufelder plans on spending more time with his family, engaging in charitable work and providing healthcare consulting services, officials said.
Ascension Wisconsin is one of the largest healthcare systems in the state with the recent addition of Glendale, Wis.-based Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare.
