63 hospital, health system CNO, CMO moves so far in 2015

The following 63 hospital and health system CNO and CMO moves were reported by Becker's Hospital Review from January through June this year, starting with the most recent.

1. USMD Hospital at Arlington (Texas) appointed Laurie Lewis as CNO.

2. Danville (Va.) Regional Medical Center named Ross Taylor, MD, as its CMO. Dr. Taylor is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon.

3. Kennewick, Wash.-based Trios Health appointed Brenda Atencio, MSN, as CNO. She had served in an interim capacity since April.

4. Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison, Iowa, hired Erin Muck, BSN, as CNO. She has nearly 20 years of healthcare experience.

5. Patricia "Pidge" Gooch, RN, was named CNO of Kaiser Permanente in the Central Valley, a region including two hospitals in Modesto and Manteca, Calif.

6. Gainesville-based North Florida Regional Medical Center named Natalie Ransom, BSN, as CNO. In addition to her bachelor's in nursing, Ms. Ransom holds a master's degree in nursing administration and is pursuing a doctorate in nursing practice.

7. Summa Health System hired Matthew Wayne, MD, as CMO of its accountable care organization, NewHealth Collaborative, and its employed physician group, Summa Physicians.

8. St. James Mercy Hospital in Hornell, N.Y., named Raymond J. Mayewski, MD, as interim CMO and medical director, succeeding John Carroll, MD, who stepped down May 31.

9. James W. Morris II, MD, will become CMO of University Medical Center in Lebanon, Tenn., effective Aug. 3.

10. Cape Regional Health System in Cape May Court House, N.J., appointed Andrea McCoy, MD, as CMO.

11. Henry Ford West Bloomfield (Mich.) Hospital promoted Karen Harris, RN, to chief nursing and operations executive.

12. Star Medical Center, a surgical hospital in Plano, Texas, named Amy Brinkley CNO.

13. Green Bay, Wis.-based Prevea Health added Laura Nelson, MD, to the organization as vice president and CMO-Northern Division.

14. Chad Couch, MD, was named CMO of Bristol (Tenn.) Regional Medical Center.

15. Pardee Hospital in Hendersonville, N.C., appointed David Ellis, MD, as permanent CMO. He had been serving as interim CMO of the hospital since November 2014.

16. Vancouver, Wash.-based PeaceHealth named Michael Murphy, MD, as its first system-level CMO, effective June 15. He is a board-certified OB-GYN.

17. July Holt, RN, was named CNO of Cincinnati-based The Christ Hospital Health Network, effective May 18.

18. Salem (Ore.) Health hired Steve Gordon, MD, as CMO, effective June 1.

19. Denver-based SCL Health appointed Geri Towndrow, RN, as its first system CNO. Ms. Towndrow has been with the system since 2011.

20. Jacqueline Herd, DNP, was named vice president and CNO of Midtown Medical Center in Columbus, Ga. She was previously CNO of Atlanta Medical Center.

21. Fredericksburg, Va.-based Mary Washington Healthcare promoted Eileen Dohmann to senior vice president and CNO. She was previously the vice president of quality and patient safety.

22. Antelope Valley Hospital in Lancaster, Calif., named Donald T. Wenzler, DNP, RN, as its CNO, effective April 6.

23. Memorial Hermann Southeast Hospital in Houston promoted its CNO, Kelly Ochoa, RN, to vice president of operations.

24. Thomas Reynolds, MD, was appointed CMO of University of Virginia Culpeper Hospital in Culpeper.

25. New York City Health and Hospital Corp. announced the appointment of John Morley, MD, as CMO of HHC Jacobi Medical Center and HHC North Central Bronx Hospital, both located in the Bronx, N.Y.

26. Nikki Roux, RN, was appointed vice president and CNO of Memorial Hermann Northeast Hospital in Humble, Texas.

27.  R. Jason Thurman, MD, was named CMO of two TriStar hospitals: Hendersonville (Tenn.) Medical Center and Nashville, Tenn.-based Skyline Medical Center.

28. Irvine, Calif.-based St. Joseph Health named Jack L. Cox, MD, as senior vice president and CMO.

29. Larry Bookman, DO, CMO of Steamboat Springs, Colo.-based Yampa Valley Medical Center, retired March 31, after a more than 30-year career at the hospital.

30. Lourdes Hospital in Paducah, Ky., named Andrew Behan as chief quality and patient safety officer.

31. Joanne Olsen, the chief administrative officer and CNO of PeaceHealth's Columbia Network, announced she would leave the system April 10.

32. Jeff Davis, DO, was named CMO of Scotland County Hospital in Memphis, Mo. The hospital's former CMO,Randall Tobler, MD, was recently named CEO.

33. Greensboro, N.C.-based Cone Health promoted Bruce Swords, MD, PhD, to CMO. He was previously the system's vice president and CMIO.

34. Paladina Health in Denver named Jennifer Bajaj, MD, as CMO. Dr. Bajaj has more than 15 years of progressive clinical management and physician leadership experience.

35. John T. Pellicone, MD, was appointed CMO of HHC Metropolitan Hospital Center, part of the New York City Health and Hospitals Corp. Dr. Pellicone is a pulmonologist.

36. Houston-based Lyndon B. Johnson General Hospital, part of Harris Health System in Houston, named Derek Curtis, DNP, RN, as CNO. Dr. Curtis has 15 years of nurse leadership experience.

37. The Brooklyn (N.Y.) Hospital Center promoted Mary Anne Healy-Rodriguez, PhD, RN, to senior vice president and chief nursing executive. She was previously the hospital's vice president of nursing operations.

38. David R. Ploss, MD, a cardiologist, was appointed CMO of Ukiah (Calif.) Valley Medical Center, part of Roseville, Calif.-based Adventist Health.

39. Gallipolis, Ohio-based Holzer Health System named Amy Showalter as CNO.

40. Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kan., named Joyce Soule as CNO.

42. Dennis Lund, MD, a pediatric surgeon, will serve as CMO of Stanford Children's Health and Lucile Packard Children's Hospital Stanford in Palo Alto, Calif., beginning March 16.

43. Lee Johannsen, MD, was chosen as the first CMO of Central Texas Medical Center in San Marcos. He is an emergency medicine physician.

44. Memorial Hospital in Jasper, Ind., chose Stanley Tretter, MD, who is board certified in family medicine, to serve as the hospital's first CMO.

45. Gloversville, N.Y.-based Nathan Littauer Hospital announced Stephanie Fishel, RN, as its vice president of patient care and CNO.

46. Concord, Ohio-based Lake Health announced the appointment of John J. Baniewicz, MD, a board-certified internist, to senior vice president and CMO.

47. Shannon Nachtigal, RN, became vice president and CNO of Baxter Regional Medical Center in Mountain Home, Ark., after serving as the hospital's interim CNO.

48. Ann Holmes, RN, is now CNO of Frankfort, Mich.-based Paul Oliver Memorial Hospital, which is part of Traverse City, Mich.-based Munson Healthcare.

49. University of Cincinnati Health named its first CMO: William Hurford, MD.

50. Gallipolis, Ohio-based Holzer Health System named Michael Canady, MD, as its CMO.

51. Houston-based Texas Children's Hospital announced the appointment of Charles Hankins, MD, as CMO of Texas Children's Hospital The Woodlands.

52. Christopher J. Langan, MD, became CMO of Memorial Hermann The Woodlands (Texas) Hospital.

53. CHI St. Luke's Health-The Woodlands (Texas) Hospital named Syed Raza, MD, as its new CMO.

54. Teresa Roberts, RN, was named CNO of Highlands Medical Center in Sparta, Tenn.

55. Oakland, Calif.-based Alameda Health System named associate CMOs at two of its hospitals. Steven Rosenthal, MD, is now assistant CMO of San Leandro (Calif.) Hospital, and Donato Stinghen, MD, took the position at Alameda (Calif.) Hospital.

56. HCA Gulf Coast Division, a hospital network with 13 hospitals, eight ambulatory centers and seven emergency centers in Texas, named Stephen Nesbit, DO, as CMO.

57. Rush University Medical Center in Chicago chose Omar Lateef, MD, as its new CMO.

58. Sharon Freyer, RN, was appointed CNO of Baptist Health Paducah (Ky.) after serving as the medical center's interim CNO for about three months.

59. Southwest Georgia Medical Center, a 25-bed critical access hospital in Cuthbert, has a new CEO and CNO: Kim Gilman, RN.

60. Gabriel Hauser, MD, a pediatric intensivist, was named CMO of St. Christopher's Hospital for Children and vice chair of pediatrics at Drexel University College of Medicine, both in Philadelphia.

61. Kern Low, MD, is now the CMO of Canon City, Colo.-based St. Thomas More Hospital.

62.  Memorial Hermann Katy (Texas) Hospital named Linda Stephens as CNO.

63. Faye Perry, CNO of Gateway Medical Center in Clarksville, Tenn., resigned and was replaced by Rhonda Mann, BSN, RN.
