The following hospital and health system executive moves were reported by Becker's Hospital Review in the last week. They are listed below, beginning with the most recent.
1. The National Quality Forum has appointed Helen Darling interim president and CEO.
2. Las Colinas Medical Center in Irving, Texas, appointed Ben Harris COO.
3. Louis Kraml, CEO of Bingham Memorial Hospital in Blackfoot, Idaho, resigned from his post.
4. Frank Vozos, MD, current president and CEO of Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch, N.J., and Monmouth Medical Center, Southern Campus in Lakewood, N.J., will serve as executive vice president for West Orange, N.J.-based Barnabas Health and as CEO of Monmouth Medical Center, Southern Campus.
5. Rick Toomey, president and CEO of Beaufort (S.C.) Memorial Hospital, will leave his post at the end of 2016.
6. Marietta, Ga.-based WellStar Health System appointed three new executive leaders. Kem Mullins, who has served as interim COO for the past seven months, was named executive vice president of ambulatory division and business development. Carrie Owen Plietz was appointed executive vice president and COO of WellStar's hospital division. WellStar named John Brennan, MD, executive vice president and chief clinical integration officer.
7. Barnabas Health, based in West Orange, N.J., made several changes and additions to its senior leadership. Joe Hicks, president and CEO of the Barnabas Health Behavioral Health Center and Network, will retire Jan. 31. Deanna Sperling, RN, CNO of Barnabas Health Behavioral Health Center and COO of the Barnabas Health Behavioral Health Network, was named president and CEO of the Barnabas Health Behavioral Health Center in Toms River, N.J. Michael Mimoso, interim president and CEO of Community Medical Center in Toms River, will become the permanent president and CEO. John Brennan, MD, president and CEO of Newark (N.J.) Beth Israel Medical Center and Children's Hospital of New Jersey, has accepted a position with Marietta, Ga.-based WellStar Health System as executive vice president, effective Feb. 5. Darrell Terry Sr., COO of NBIMC and CHoNJ, will serve as interim president and CEO, effective Feb. 5, while a national search is conducted for Dr. Brennan's replacement. Jennifer Velez, senior vice president of strategy and planning, was named senior vice president of population and behavioral health integration at Barnabas Health.
8. Melissa Memorial Hospital in Holyoke, Colo., named Trampas Hutches CEO.
9. Brookfield-based Integrated Health Network of Wisconsin named Ken Bertka, MD, CMO.
10. Chris Bergman was named CFO of Dayton (Ohio) Children's Hospital.
11. Ronald Reed, president and CEO of Mercy Iowa City (Iowa), will retire this year.
12. A new president will lead The Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, effective this summer. A search committee will help find the next president of The Johns Hopkins Hospital. The committee will be co-chaired by Ronald Peterson, president of The Johns Hopkins Hospital, president of the Johns Hopkins Health System and executive vice president of Johns Hopkins Medicine, all in Baltimore, and Paul Rothman, dean of the medical faculty and CEO of Johns Hopkins Medicine.
13. Angela Igo, MSN, RN, began her role as CNO of Marshall, Mo.-based Fitzgibbon Hospital Jan. 5.
14. Patrick Chapman, EDD, was named CEO of Tippah County Hospital in Ripley, Miss.
15. On Dec. 1, Daniel Barchi assumed his new position as CIO of NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital, taking over duties for Aurelia Boyer, who retired.
16. David McQuaid is slated to become CEO of The Ohio State University Health System, and COO of Ohio State's Wexner Medical Center, both in Columbus. Mr. McQuaid's appointment is expected to take effect Feb. 1, pending approval by The Ohio State University Board of Trustees.
17. Joseph J. Guarracino was named senior vice president and CFO of White Plains (N.Y.) Hospital, effective Jan. 11.
18. Danny Wharton, RN, was appointed CNO of Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center in Hartsville, S.C., part of Franklin, Tenn.-based Capella Healthcare.
19. Kenneth McFarland, CEO of Mission Hospital, with locations in Mission Viejo, Calif., and Laguna Beach, Calif., will resign next month.
20. Mark Adams, MD, a board-certified general and vascular surgeon, was named CMO of Vancouver, Wash.-based PeaceHealth.
21. The Christ Hospital Health Network in Cincinnati named Scott Hamlin CFO.
22. Trinity Health-New England, a member of Livonia, Mich.-based Trinity Health, was named Scott Wolf, DO, president of Mercy Medical Center in Springfield, Mass., and its affiliated entities.
23. James Atkins, PharmD, was named CEO of Rutherfordton, N.C.-based Rutherford Regional Health System, a Duke LifePoint Healthcare facility, effective Feb. 8.
