21 latest hospital, health system executive moves

The following hospital and health system executive moves were reported by Becker's Hospital Review in the last week. They are listed below, beginning with the most recent.

1. Joe Mullany, CEO of Detroit Medical Center, was one of the first of several corporate executives to be terminated in a national restructuring plan by parent company Dallas-based Tenet Healthcare.

2. Beatrice Community Hospital & Health Center CEO Thomas Sommers resigned.

3. St. David's Round Rock (Texas) Medical Center named Michael Craun, MD, CMO.

4. Medical City Denton (Texas) selected Howard Shaw, MD, to serve as CMO.

5. Hospital Corporation of America East Florida in Fort Lauderdale named Brandon Haushalter CEO of Kendall Regional Medical Center in Miami.

6. Franklin (La.) Foundation Hospital appointed Stephanie Atkins-Guidry CEO.

7. Milwaukee-based Aurora Health Care appointed Jessica Bauer as president of Aurora Sinai Medical Center in Milwaukee and Aurora St. Luke's South Shore in Cudahy, Wis.

8. Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion, Ill., tapped Melisa Adkins, BSN, to lead as CEO, effective Feb. 13, 2017.

9. Charleston, S.C.-based Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital CEO Allen Carroll is retiring after 27 years as leader of one of Charleston-based Roper St. Francis' three flagship hospitals.

10. Tennova Healthcare-Lebanon (Tenn.) appointed Jay Hinesley CEO.

11. St. Joseph Hoag Health, based in Irvine, Calif., named new CEOs for three of its hospitals as well as a new regional COO.

•    Lee Penrose assumed the newly created position of COO for acute care delivery.
•    Brian Helleland will serve as the new chief executive of St. Jude Medical Center.
•    Mission Hospital named Tarek Salaway chief executive for both its campuses in Mission Viejo, Calif., and Laguna Beach, Calif.
•    Orange, Calif.-based St. Joseph Hospital named Jeremy Zoch, PhD, to succeed retiring Chief Executive Steven C. Moreau.

12. The Medical Center of Aurora (Colo.) selected Rachel E. Miles, MSN, RN, CNO, effective Jan. 30, 2017.

13. McLaren Flint (Mich.) appointed Chad M. Grant president and CEO, effective Jan. 30, 2017.

14. Detroit Medical Center tapped Anthony J. Tedeschi, MD, to lead as CEO.

15. Sacramento, Calif.-based UC Davis Health named William Showalter CIO.

16. Sparks Health System in Fort Smith, Ark., named Shane Knisley COO.

17. St. Joseph's Health, based in Syracuse, N.Y., named Leslie Paul Luke president and CEO, effective Feb. 20, 2017.

18. Osage Beach, Mo.-based Lake Regional Health System CEO Michael E. Henze plans to retire on Nov. 1, 2017.
