18 latest hospital, health system executive moves

The following hospital and health system executive moves were reported by Becker's Hospital Review in the last week. They are listed below, beginning with the most recent.

1. Memphis, Tenn.-based Baptist Memorial Health Care named Brian Welton CEO and administrator of the $25 million hospital it plans to build in Crittenden County, Ark.

2. NYC Health + Hospitals named Anthony Rajkumar CEO and Mei Kong, MSN, RN, COO of Coney Island Hospital in Brooklyn, N.Y.

3. Monty E. Knittel, president and CEO of Walla Walla (Wash.) General Hospital, is leaving his post to become president and CEO of Feather River Hospital in Paradise, Calif.

4. Aspirus Grand View Hospital in Ironwood, Mich., named Paula Chermside CEO.

5. Vancouver, Wash.-based PeaceHealth hired Kimberly Hodgkinson as executive vice president and CFO.

6. Baltimore-based Johns Hopkins Hospital appointed its first female president in its 125-year history: Redonda Miller, MD.

7. Kaiser Permanente Hawaii, based in Kailua-Kona, selected two executives to lead Maui Health System, the new company run by Kaiser Permanente Hawaii that assumes management of the Maui state hospitals July 1. Ray Hahn will serve as senior vice president and area manager. David Ulin, MD, will be the associate medical director of operations at Pacific Permanente Group and chief medical director of the Maui Health System.

8. Great Neck, N.Y.-based Northwell Health shuffled top executives in a move aimed at bolstering the leadership of its eastern region. Kevin Beiner, previously deputy regional executive director of the health system's western region in Manhattan, N.Y., was named senior vice president and deputy regional executive director of the eastern region. Northwell appointed Jay Enden, MD, the long-time medical director of Bay Shore, N.Y.-based Southside Hospital, as medical director of the eastern region. Robert Scanlon, MD, previously associate CMO of Southside Hospital, will succeed Dr. Enden as medical director at Southside Hospital. Lenny Nartowicz, previously associate executive director of finance at North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset, N.Y., was named executive director of The Long Island Home, which operates South Oaks Hospital and Broadlawn Manor Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Amityville, N.Y. 

9. Sherry Gehring, MSN, RN, CNO of Hancock Regional Hospital in Greenfield, Ind., is retiring June 9.

10. St. John's Episcopal Hospital in Far Rockaway, N.Y., named Margaret Frantz — a former flight attendant and patient advocate — as its first-ever chief patient experience officer.

11. Houston-based CHI St. Luke's Health - Baylor St. Luke's Medical Center appointed William Brien, MD, as interim president.

12. Darrell K. Terry Sr. was named president and CEO of Newark (N.J.) Beth Israel Medical Center and Children's Hospital of New Jersey, also in Newark.

13. Nashville, Tenn.-based Hospital Corporation of America appointed Troy A. Villarreal president of HCA's Gulf Coast division, effective June 20.

14. Fort Myers, Fla.-based Lee Memorial Health System named Scott Nygaard, MD, as CMO.

15. George Washington University Hospital in Washington, D.C., named Kimberly Russo CEO, effective June 3.

16. Three executives at Columbus (Ga.) Regional Health are leaving their positions to accept promotions with other organizations. L.M. "Tripp" Layfield III, senior vice president and legal counsel; Meredith Bass, director of corporate finance; and Stan Hickson, executive vice president and president of Northside Medical Center in Columbus, submitted resignations.

17. LRGHealthcare in Laconia, N.H., named Kevin W. Donovan president and CEO.

18. Aaron Miri joined Imprivata as the health IT and communications solutions company's CIO and vice president of government relations. Mr. Miri most recently was CIO of Walnut Hill Medical Center in Dallas.
