19 latest hospital, health system executive moves

The following hospital and health system executive moves were reported by Becker's Hospital Review in the last week. They are listed below, beginning with the most recent.

1. James N. "Jim" Elkins, director of the Texas Center for Infectious Disease in San Antonio, will retire after 22 years in his position, effective Aug. 31.

2. Shriners Hospital for Children appointed Purnendu Gupta, MD, chief of staff.

3. Chris Mowan was named president and CEO of Medical City Dallas Hospital, effective July 25.

4. New Hanover Regional Medical Center, an 800-bed facility in Wilmington, N.C., named John Gizdic president and CEO.

5. Jaclyn A. Mucaria was named president of NewYork-Presbyterian/Queens in Flushing, N.Y., effective Aug. 1. 

6. Norfolk, Va.-based Sentara Healthcare named Joanne Inman president of Sentara Leigh Hospital, also in Norfolk, effective July 11.

7. Board members of Benton, Ill.-based Franklin Hospital voted to accept the retirement of CEO Hervey Davis, effective June 30.

8. Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs, Calif., named Judith Stimson as its new CFO.

9. Terika Richardson was appointed president of Advocate Trinity Hospital in Chicago.

10. Jill Duplechan, RN, was named COO of St. Joseph Heritage Healthcare's Southern California region.

11. Margo Karsten, PhD, CEO of Cheyenne (Wyo.) Regional Medical Center, will resign Sept. 2.

12. Vancouver, Wash.-based PeaceHealth hired Brian Shipley as system vice president for government affairs.

13. The Detroit Medical Center named Luanne Thomas Ewald CEO of DMC Children's Hospital of Michigan, effective July 1.

14. Brookfield-based Integrated Health Network of Wisconsin, a statewide network of major health systems and healthcare providers, welcomed Stephanie Lenzner as vice president of clinical integration.

15. Richard Gemming was named executive director of the Western Connecticut Medical Group and vice president of Danbury-based Western Connecticut Health Network.  

16. Thomas E. Wilhelmsen Jr., president and CEO of Nashua-based Southern New Hampshire Health, retired June 30 after 28 years of service.

17. Jon Duval, CEO of Richmond, Va.-based VCU Hospitals and Clinics and vice president for clinical affairs, announced plans to retire, effective Sept. 30. He will stay on as an advisor to the health system through March 17, 2017.

18. Danville, Pa.-based Geisinger Health System tapped Dominic Moffa to serve as executive vice president and chief strategy officer of the organization.

19. Joseph E. Bisordi, MD, executive vice president and CMO of New Orleans-based Ochsner Health System, will retire Sept. 1.
