Flint Waters, the state of Wyoming's CIO, will step down from his position to join Alphabet's Google unit, reports The Wall Street Journal.
He started serving as CIO of the state of Wyoming in April 2011, according to StateScoop.
The hiring process at Google took approximately one year and involved everything from Google Hangouts to formal interviews, according to the article. In his new role, Mr. Waters will counsel state and local governments on how to move their applications to Google's Cloud Platform.
Mr. Waters will officially leave Sept. 23 and will join Google in October.
