The U.S. Office of Personnel Management has appointed David DeVries CIO.
Mr. DeVries is currently the principal deputy CIO at the U.S. Department of Defense. He'll take on his role at the OPM "in the coming weeks," according to a press release.
He will replace Donna Seymour, OPM's previous CIO who resigned in February, according to The Wall Street Journal. Her resignation came eight months after a massive data breach comprised the information of more than 20 million individuals and only two days before a scheduled appearance before the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform.
Shortly after the breach, a group of 18 congressmen asked President Obama to remove Ms. Seymour and OPM Director Katherine Archuleta from office. Ms. Archuleta resigned in July 2015.
