Three campuses of the University of Massachusetts have partnered to create a digital health center with a $125,000 grant from the university's science and technology initiatives fund, according to UMass Med Now.
UMass Boston, UMass Lowell and Worchester-based UMass Medical School will collaborate on the Center for Digital Health, an interdisciplinary research hub slated to include professors from departments like computer science, community health, quantitative health sciences and medicine. Researchers at the center will study digital health innovations, evaluate digital health tools and solidify academic-industry partnerships.
The center, focusing on using computing infrastructure for health research, will also collaborate with the UMass Center for mHealth and Social Media and the Center for Data Science at UMass Amherst.
"The ultimate goal of the center is to use available data technology to improve health and reduce healthcare costs," said Yunsheng Ma, MD, PhD, associate professor of medicine and co-director of the new center.
