Uber turns over data on 12 million riders, drivers to government agencies

Ride sharing company Uber provided information on more than 12 million riders and drivers to law enforcement agencies and regulators between July 2015 and December 2015, reports Reuters.

Uber reported receiving 415 requests from law enforcement agencies, and it provided them with data in 85 percent of the cases. The majority of the requests came from state governments, and many requests were tied to fraud or stolen credit card investigations, according to the report.

Requested information includes trips, trip requests, pickup and drop off locations, fares and vehicles, according to the report.
