These 10 cities are most likely to underpay tech employees

A new study from Paysa, a consumer services organization, unveiled the 10 cities and companies that are most likely to undercompensate their tech and engineering employees by at least 10 percent.

To create the study, Paysa analyzed the resumes of more than 5 million technology and engineering professionals. The study included data on employees' base salary, equity and bonus pay.

Here are the 10 cities most likely to underpay their tech and engineering employees, as well as the likelihood of them doing so.

  • Seattle — 60 percent
  • Boston — 44 percent
  • San Jose, Calif. — 40 percent
  • San Francisco — 37 percent
  • Los Angeles — 37 percent
  • Austin, Texas — 37 percent
  • Washington, D.C. — 33 percent
  • Pittsburgh — 32 percent
  • New York City — 30 percent
  • San Diego — 29 percent

Here are the 10 companies most likely to underpay their tech and engineering employees, as well as the likelihood of them doing so.

  • Accenture — 90 percent
  • Glassdoor — 83 percent
  • Pinterest — 80 percent
  • Microsoft — 75 percent
  • Dropbox — 65 percent
  • Airbnb — 63 percent
  • Lockheed Martin — 62 percent
  • Facebook — 59 percent
  • Uber — 56 percent
  • IBM — 55 percent
