Health information network Surescripts has launched its National Record Locator Service nationwide.
Here are six things to know.
1. The National Record Locator Service aims to offer providers a way to obtain a full view of a patient's health history.
2. The service includes records for 140 million patients and has achieved nearly 2 million interactions between patients and healthcare providers.
3. CVS Health, Epic, Express Scripts and NextGen Healthcare have partnered with Surescripts in an effort to move forward with interoperability.
4. Users of Epic's Care Everywhere and NextGen Share will be able to view and share patient records across various systems and geographies. CVS Health and Express Scripts will supply patient visit information the record sharing platform.
5. The National Record Locator Service operates under the Carequality framework.
6. "We've proven that by bringing together the right partners, we can overcome legacy barriers and make true health information exchange a reality," said Tom Skelton, CEO of Surescripts.
