HIMSS North America has a new chairman, vice chair and four new board members as of July 1.
Mike Zaroukian, MD, PhD, CMIO of Lansing, Mich.-based Sparrow Health System begins his one-year term as chairman of the board of directors.
"As the board chair, I'm excited to be a part of a leadership team that will continue to advance health IT and support the society's role as the health sector's IT thought leader," Dr. Zaroukian said in a statement.
Beth Casey Halley, principal advisor of MITRE Corp., began her term as vice chair of the board.
Additionally, HIMSS added four new board members: Ruben Amarasingham, MD, president and CEO of PCCI; Susan Heichert, RN, senior vice president and CIO of Minneapolis-based Allina Health; Jonathan Niloff, MD, consultant and former CMO of McKesson Connected Care & Analytics; and Marc Overhage, MD, PhD, CMIO of Cerner.
The new board members will serve three-year terms.
